Bedtime can sometimes be a challenging part of the day, that is why we are going to give you some suggestions to establish a bedtime routine that will avoid unnecessary confrontations.
1. Some children need to take a nice bath with warm water to lower their energy levels and go to bed more relaxed. If they get used to this. they will never abandon this good habit.
2. For children that get nervous and scared, having a dim light in the room produces tranquility and they sleep without major problems.
3. The routine of reading a book or a story before bedtime is one that gives many parents magnificent results and forges good reading habits in children. Ask them to read and do it yourself to set an example.
4. Going to bed at the same time every night gets the body used to a routine.
5. Children should not use devices with blue light screens such as cell phones, tablets, television or video games before going to bed because they overstimulate the child and it also brings repercussions to their vision.
6. With love and patience, teach your child that it is best for everyone to sleep in their own beds at night. This will reinforce the consideration we need to have with other members of the family and little by little they will get used to their independence.
7. While the children are getting used to the routine of a fixed schedule, it is good to keep alert with measures such as leaving the door partially open or using baby monitors in case the children need help during the night.
8. Verify that in their room there is nothing to disturb the sleep such as air or heating equipment that generate unpleasant noises that prevent the little ones from resting.
9. Make sure that your children have a game or sport activity during the day in which they have to exercise, because, when night falls, they will be better able to sleep.
10. Hug your children, talk to them, and tell them that you love them. This will comfort them, they will feel loved and protected and this will make them sleep happy with assurance that their parents take care of them.
Creating a routine takes time and dedication, but I assure you that it generates great benefits for the whole family.
