Being a part of your child's learning development seems like a very complicated and difficult task, but it is not. In this article, we will talk about how you can be a part of your child's development as he or she goes about their daily life. Mom & Dad, You Can Do It.
There's nothing a little love and patience can't do. During household chores, while showing your child how to clean up, identify things by their names and encourage your child to repeat the labels several times. One by one, the child can pick up each item while saying its name.
This is the opportunity to set an example, by doing the task first. For example, speak to your child while you are completing a task: Let's fold these clothes or pick up these toys and while we do this we will learn the names of each piece of clothing item... this is a jacket, now let's roll up these socks; here we have a racing car, we will put it in this basket along with these small balls and so the child apart from not getting bored because he will have all your attention, (s)he will learn to call things by their names.
When taking public transportation, riding in the car, or walking, you can capture the child’s attention by having them name things they see along the way such as trees, cars, people, houses, buildings, ponds, animals or what they see on billboards along the road; you may be surprised to know that many people have learned from their early age to read when traveling on long journeys by reading billboards.
Another task that children love to do is shopping with mom or dad. It’s an excellent opportunity to ask those who are learning to read to read the labels, thanking them warmly for their valuable collaboration.
And for the little ones, helping them to recognize the products by the colors and letters printed on the packaging will make them very happy. Fruits and vegetables attract their attention because of their bright colors, which we can take advantage of so they can learn the different colors and shapes. Some are round, others oval, others long and thin. The trip to the supermarket will never be the same. Mom and Dad, you can do it.
